My 8 year old daughter loves this toy. It makes lots of wonderful sounds. You really do need the "housing" sets though to make it worthwhile.

My daughters love this game and their friends love it too. I just purchased two more to give to their friends as presents. My youngest daughter starting playing this at age 5 with her older sister and cousin... so definitely its something younger kids can play once they get the hang of it. We play it as a family and even my husband thinks its ok.
