My grandson had this for his second birthday. My daughter-in-law says that it is a great favourite. From her point of view, the toy is sturdy and does not require batteries, so it is a great success. No adverse comments at all.

This was a present for my sons 1st birthday. He recieved three fire engines that day. Last week he turned three and this has been the only toy that has not only survived the last two years, but has constantly provided him with hours of fun and entertainment.
The greatest attraction when he first received the toy was the noise. The sound of pushing the truck along the ground gave him great enjoyment. It didn't get on my nerves either as it wasn't any high pitched squealing or anything. The propelling motion sends the truck forward at a pace that encouraged him to race after it, helping with his gross motor skills (he was learning to walk at the time).
As he grew older he became more fascinated with the two openings in the truck. Too often did I come across a half eaten corn cob in the window section, or a grape in the boot. Luckily it was easy to clean out!
A few months ago some agressive play led to the cherry picker bit being broken off and unfortuantely even our tough super glue didn't keep it on.
It hasn't prevented him from still enjoying playing with it. He still makes his firemen climb the ladder - they just have nowhere to stand now!
He is now really into role playing and uses his people to act our scenarios which is really wonderful to watch. I often join him in play and we use the toys to talk about how we treat each other, should help when we can etc.
I would really recommend this a toy that grows with the child. Suitable from 1-4, and totally worth the money if you buy it when they are younger. I think by 3.5-4 he will have outgrown it though.
